Join Us

The Suffolk Coastal Floaters Hang Gliding Club has an open membership. As such, we invite and encourage new members to come along and join us

To join as a Flying Member, you must have, as a minimum, a BHPA CP (Club Pilot) Rating, obtained through a recognised BHPA School. If you do NOT have such a rating, you can still join us, but as a Non-Flying Member, there is always plenty of help needed on the airfield!

The SCFHGC is, essentially, a Winch Tow Group, although we do frequently fly from our coastal sites in Suffolk and Norfolk. Provided you have the above minimum rating, you do not necessarily need to have done a Winch Tow Conversion as we can train you for this.

Also, the Club is keen, and able, to train our more experienced members to act as Winch Operators, Tow and Club Coaches.

As with any Club, we have equipment to maintain and expenses to meet so we do need to charge a membership fee and per launch fee to Flying Members and Visiting Pilots. We strive to do our best to keep these fees to an absolute minimum.

We are a friendly bunch who, in addition to our flying activities, enjoy social get togethers, good beer, yarns, stories and fables
